As models of team leadership move more to center stage, some who could have been larger church lead pastors will find great contentment in “second chair” roles. We won’t see the old collegial models grow, and instead we will see great teams emerge that combine teaching, preaching, leadership and administrative gifts in new ways. This will play out as prominent lead pastors will join other teams in their churches, but not in the primary leader role.
